Does Laser Tattoo Removal work?

By dan | Mar 25, 2017 | Laser Tattoo Removal | 0 Comments

Yes, it does, but the results depend on many variables.

The underlying principle for laser tattoo removal is that the ink pigment is targetted by the laser and reduced into tiny particles. This is then absorbed by the lymphatic system, a critical part of your body’s immune system, and disposed of naturally.

Some lasers do this job better than others. The PicoSure uses pressure wave technology to deliver ultra-short pulses of specialised energy to targeted ink particles. These pulses are so rapid they cause a change in pressure that breaks ink apart into tiny dust-like particles with no trauma to the surrounding cells and skin. Q-Switched and lesser lasers have a longer pulse which causes heat during this process which can lead to permanent pigmentation changes in the skin as well as scarring.

Other factors which determine how effective laser tattoo removal can be are the type of ink used, how deep the pigmentation is, whether the tattooist was a professional or an amateur, the method of tattooing, how old the tattoo is, the condition of the skin, whether there is scarring present, if it is a double tattoo, the health of the patient and in particular how good their immune system is.

Do your homework! You are not expected to know the finer points of what makes some lasers better than others but search for PicoSure v’s Q-Switched and you will see that the PicoSure is the most effective laser in the world. Then, read reviews and look at before and after photos.
