What are we treating?
- Fingernail and toenail fungal infection – Onychomycosis
How we can help
Laser is the fastest and safest treatment for fungal nail infection. It is just as effective as topical or tablet treatment without the risk of side effects. In some cases it will even treat types of fungus which are resistant to tablet treatment. It’s also virtually pain free.
Causes of Fungal Nail Infection
Anyone can get a fungal nail infection but your risk increases with age, climate and health. The older you get the bigger the risk. The warmer and wetter the climate the greater the chance. Fungal nail infection is caused by microscopic fungi and you have an increased risk of developing this if you have one or more of the following:
- Athletes foot
- Nail infection
- Poor circulation or weak immune system
- Psoriasis
- Hereditary
- Chemotherapy treatment for cancer
Fungus loves warm, moist environments so the risk also increases if your hands and feet are constantly wet or sweaty
Symptoms of Fungal Nail Infection
Fungal nail infections are most common on the toenails but can also occur on the finger nails.
The most common symptoms are:
- Discolouration – Yellow, black, white or green
- Thickening
- Separation from the nail bed
- Brittle/unusual shape or texture
- Difficult to trim
- Painful
- Bad smell
Onychomycosis (Fungal Nail) must be diagnosed by a Doctor, Dermatologist or Podiatrist, in writing, before we can start treatment. Please email, message or call to book your consultation. Consultations are not bookable through the website. Thank you.
